New Regulatory Authority For Auctioneers and Estate Agents
RE/MAX Ireland are pleased with the recent announcement by the Minister
for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr. Michael McDowell, TD that he intends
to establish, on an interim basis, a new Regulatory Authority for Auctioneers
and Estate Agents. Mark Campbell, Regional Director for RE/MAX Ireland said
"The new authority will provide our industry with a clear structure for
the future. This will insure high quality, consumer friendly and professional
estate agents throughout the country working from a level playing field. At
the moment our industry is governed by legislation that is in some instance
58 years out of date."
Having made a submission to the Auctioneering/Estate Agents
Review Group set up by the Minister in July 2004, now approved by Government,
RE/MAX Ireland expressed concerns to the group about the Qualification Requirements
to enter the industry and become an Auctioneer/Estate Agent, Codes of Practice
that would better serve the general public, Licensing, Handling of clients
money, Education and many more. "We are delighted to see that all of
our concerns were addressed by the Review Group and we wish to congratulate
Minister McDowell, TD and Mr. Alan McCarthy, Chairman of the Review Group
and the Group on a great job and a great service to our industry", said
